Their celebration started off with a lively game of Watermelon Roll, which perhaps is a dogs version of the Watermelon Crawl. Rusty, Carly, Ammo and Willy had so much fun rolling the watermelon around the lawn. It was the “Best Day of Willy’s Life”, well until the next best day!
Willy’s son, Ammo, knew there just had to be something wonderful inside this big green ball.
Willy waited patiently for the special treat I promised him – the prize inside the big green ball.
I cut the watermelon up and let them enjoy the sweet deliciousness of this wonderful summer fruit. This was Willy (and his pals) very first time eating watermelon. They loved it!
Willy savored every bite of his piece of watermelon. He took his time which is quite unusual for him. I think he liked his special surprise treat.
*** For my regular readers, yes, I did post this a few days early. But, I wanted to post it on the actual National Watermelon Day. Also, my husband and I are going on a trip this weekend and I will be on the road Sunday, my regular day. Until next time, enjoy all the things that only summer holds, like watermelon!
Willy is a first time daddy. I wasn’t sure how he would react to his little kiddos. But he handled it like everything else, with a great heart and sweet spirit. He was so ultra gentle. You can tell by his facial expressions how hard he was trying to be gentle. Just like human dad’s feel awkward holding a newborn baby for the first time, Willy was afraid to move at times, afraid he would step on one of his babies. Just too darn precious for words.
Of course, Momma Jessi was kept outside during this first time meeting because she is a tad protective. Willy was so gentle. At one point he even washed one of the puppy’s little butts. I didn’t get a photo of it, but trust me, it was precious.
Willy is by far one of the BEST dogs I have ever owned (or been owned by maybe?) I dearly love every one of my dogs. Each one holds a special place in my heart and our family, but Willy the Kid is one of those once in a lifetime dogs. I truly hope he passes that down to his sons and daughters.
For those of you contemplating getting a puppy and are not sure whether to get a male or not. Can I just say, it has been my experience, at least with Jack Russell Terriers, that males make the most loving companions. Just my thought on the matter.
If you are interested in getting one of Willy’s kiddos, or his friend Sadie’s, go to our website goswickshortyjacks.com or click the page link on this blog – Our Jack Russell Terriers. Be sure to check the nursery for updated availability. All the information you need to know, including our contact info is on our website.
It’s official! Willy is a daddy. Miss Jessica gave birth to five healthy puppies May 26, 2017.
The day BEFORE the big day, our special order cookies arrived to celebrate the occasion. My niece makes the cookies, and they are DELISH, and hand decorates each one. Then she packages them up beautifully. Let me just say that these cookies didn’t last very long here in the Goswick house!
Willy and Jessica each got to have a bite of cookie after the photo shoot.
The following day, Jessica went into labor and gave birth to five healthy, beautiful puppies – three boys and two girls. Two pups are tri-color like Jessica, two are black and white like Willy’s momma and grandma, and one special little fella is brown and white like Willy.
We had a big celebration here at the Goswick house, complete with cigars (fake of course!) Willy wasn’t all that impressed with the cigar.
Willy is very curious about these squirmy little balls of fur that make all kinds of fascinating noises. When Willy’s kiddos get a little bigger, Willy will meet them face to face. Until then, he gets to peek at them from a distance.
